VV-Its almost superb !

Now that most of us know the story ....The story would have been much sofisticated if its was ' What would happen if two sexually troubled doctors turn serial Killers?' - Instead ,we are compelled to see a picture which asks ' WHat would be like if a super-cop takes on a serial Killer ' - The former would have spent some reels on the characterisation on the tow antagonists -Now we have to necessarly watch this as a super-kamal taking on a baddies ....

The director seems to be clear in his screenplay-The amount of film shot on Jothika-Kamal did find its significance in the climax - though the director has decided not to fall into his previous Kakka Kakka way of climax - I would have loved the movie to have edited the final color scenes that follows the black & white sleekish scenes - It could have been another masterpiece if the movie ends Kamal chasing few more baddies - the impact is just different ..After all ,its about a super-cop ...

The film does manage to evince keen intrest with less blood and Gun shots -thats where Gautam is immensely successfully ,its not new- the Pulan Visaranais,Capatin Prabhakaran,Tik.tikk ..have also taken the same route -But the editing ,camera work, locales done in this movie is totally different ..

You can excuse for the shallow Re-recording -just for the Karka Karka song ..As some of the kamal fans pointed out ' Ithu maathiri introduction 10 years vandhadhu illa ' - you simply choose to ignore your software -descency and whistle a bit in the first 15 min - Many possible contenders for best performances do sprinkle in this movie starting from Daniel Balaji ,Rajsekharan,ANtony,Gautam ..and Kamal Hassan - You don't often see a kamal in his original face underplaying - his extends his spectrum of acting here -

Of course the theatre i went had close to 95% attendance on a sunday evening ,which is fairly impressive - But it did reduce to 85% ,especially in teh second half -when the images from teh projector room showed Kamal and Jothika -But my two cents is that ,the scenes could have been a bit more emotional...Imagine a super-cop who never socialises,a widower meets a divorcee ,both longing for a partner ..An excellent exhibition of clevage ,if this was a Bhatt film - but you do wish that the dialogues were written by SUjatha when you see Kamal and Jothika together - Just just small bits missing ....You do want to say ' machi ..podara avana ' when Kamal takes on the baddies in the scene - but you don't ..not that you wear a Peter ENgland SHirt with Louis Phiip Trousers - It just does'nt create the emotional bond with the film ..

Probably Gautam wanted everybody to atleast say 'Its good' and that explains the crassiness in the second half -Shankar does the same thing ,probably in a different way ...While shankar's movies crassiness bubbles throught the movie ,in Gautam's movie seems to BE IN BISECTED MODE ..

probably Gautam was torn by the two questions in the first paragraph -One hand he has Kamal's call sheet and another hand a more taut screenplay-probably he decided to spend few crores more and get kamal and make it big - and he has succeeded ,thanks to kamal -Of course on seeing pictures like the one above ,you don't expect people to remember Daniel Balaji instead of Kamal !!
